About The Nifty Place...

The Nifty Place is an independent, family-owned specialty retail shop located in the warm and friendly Town of Burgaw in southeastern North Carolina. Owners Chris and Jennifer Walker established the shop in January 2006 to make available “nifty” and high-quality items for their friends and neighbors as well as visitors to their store and web site.

Chris is a native of Wilmington, NC, but his ancestors helped establish both Burgaw and Pender County. Jennifer is a native of Smithfield, NC and has lived in the area all of her life. Both were saddened to see local residents forced to drive 30 miles or more to other towns when they want something a little more than ordinary. After much product research, they opened The Nifty Place in its original location near the historic railroad depot in Burgaw.

In early 2007, The Nifty Place began the transition to its new prime location on West Fremont Street, in the heart of Burgaw's town center. In addition to offering a larger, more comfortable shopping environment and a wider selection of high-quality handmade items, the new location is more convenient for both visitors and residents who enjoy the downtown area on foot.
